Placer SPCA in northern California. It's a fine place as far as shelters go, but Buddy would really rather not be there anymore. He's looking for a forever home full of love and attention.

Before I joined the Art for Critters group on eBay, I wouldn't have ever painted an emu, an otter, a wild rabbit or a Musk Ox. I was in my little safe art world of still life and portraits (human!), with an occasional commission of a someone's Harley or their home. I have to thank A4C for helping me stretch my art fingers. I have more out of this journey than I have put in. I have enjoyed helping the animal groups but I have enjoyed the wandering path that has taken me to paint a gorilla just as much!
Here is a Musk Ox, looking right at you. With 20% of the proceeds to benefit Old Dog Haven.

No one told us it was black & white theme day, it just worked out that way.
Before I get down to brass tacks, I must say something: Dear Ms. DeWitt, you have plenty of fans of your whack-a-doo style, so don't change what you're doing! That bichon painting is enchanting :) And I certainly understand about giving from where we are and not where we want to be. But no sense waiting, as every little bit helps.
Now here's my humble listing - a pen & ink drawing of "Wizard". Wizard's a happy guy 'cause he's been adopted from the
Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center and has a forever home. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this drawing will benefit Little Shelter.

A new painting listed on eBay, this little Bichon Frise looks the very epitome of sophistication and chic. I so enjoyed all the patterns of black and white going on behind her.
I was thinking about the nature of giving lately. Because I was thinking wouldn't it be great if I had the skills of a more accomplished painter, say a David Coalburn or a Michael Frase. My paintings would then fetch top dollar and I would be able to help more animal charities. I admire them so much. But then I would lose my particular whack-a-doo point of view, I'm afraid. And we all give from where we are, not where we want to be. If I waited until my art was perfect, I would have missed the folks I have met so far. Because I'm afraid my art will never be where I am satisfied with it. I'm always thinking about the next project, hopefully improving, changing.
And I hope to always have a degree of whack-a-doo in me. I have enjoyed where it has taken me. So I hope you enjoy today this little whack-a-doo dog.
