This charming little guy was apparently ill while I was painting him, and passed on without my client revealing the fact. Hence my particularly close emotional connection wth him during the entire process of painting his portrait.
I took particular care in the correct placement and shading of each and every hair, as well as the minute texture of his nose and lips. His eyes in the photo provided were completely blotted out from the flash so I imagined them, which also confirmed how connected I was to his spirit throughout the process. Sam is a truly special little angel.
